Sarah Royce began studying Tae Kwon Do in the summer of 1993 and holds a rank of Second Dan. She first studied with the ITA and left the organization as a brown belt to begin study under the instruction of Mr. Richard Tener in 1997. The Asheville Academy of Tae Kwon Do became her second home housed in the gym of the Asheville YWCA. She achieved her First Dan in 1998 and soon entered the trainee instructor program under Mr. Tener. Miss Royce had the experience of teaching and learning with amazing instructors, and more amazing students.

Miss Royce left the ATF after a debilitating knee injury and a botched certification testing. She rejoined the family in January of 2007 after seven years and resumed instruction in February. She is honored to be working for Mr. Blackstock and finally feels at home once again in the dojang. She is very happy to now be learning once again from many of the people that she once taught.

Miss Royce attended Appalachian State University and earned a degree in chemistry. She plans on going back to school for education and will be working towards a masters degree in curriculum and instruction. Her driving force in life is to make the world a better place through education, both in the classroom and in the dojang.

"I began my Taekwondo journey when I was close to 51; and after a number of major cervical neurosurgeries. Taekwondo has played a pivotal role in my physical rehabilitation; as an art form, it has given me great joy. As far as I have yet to go in Taekwondo, I am thrilled with how far I have come.

I get great personal satisfication from instructing Taekwondo. I am very grateful for, and honored by, the confidence in me that Mr. B. and Grand Master Chung have shown."
